★★★★★ 4.7 out of 5

Price: $229
Shape: rotating curling iron
Available sizes: 1”, 1.25”
Best for: normal to thick hair, all hair lengths
What we like: very high heat for thick strands, luxury design, effortless styling
What we don’t like: bulky and expensive, too hot for fine hair
How it stands out: a rotating curling iron with very high heat capacity and a long barrel for thick and long strands

Rotating curling irons can be a breath of fresh air when it comes to styling your strands at home. They rotate automatically, saving you a lot of energy and arm strength. Like most rotating tools, Beachwaver Pro is a luxury tool with luxury qualities. It really has a way of providing an outstanding session, especially if your strands are thick or long. It comes with a very long barrel of 6.5” and can cover a very large area in one go. This results in a much faster session than usual. Not only that, it also has a very high maximum heat setting of 450°F, which is basically the highest number in the market. So, it can really smoothen strands efficiently. Watch out though, its minimum setting of 310°F is way too high for thin hair and we don’t recommend this tool for fragile strands. It’s safe enough to use for hair with medium thickness though, as it comes with a ceramic barrel which heats up less and slower than its titanium alternatives. Its barrel is also infused with gold and tourmaline. While gold helps with even heat distribution, tourmaline eliminates frizz from strands. The combination of these three materials is the best that we’ve ever come across so far. As a luxury tool, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea in terms of cost, which is $229. But it comes with all the little features that luxury tools provide and it just feels good the moment you hold it in your hands. It also has durable material and high performance.

Whether you’re seeking the best curling iron for beachy waves or the best curling iron for thick hair, rest assured, Beachwaver Pro Curling Iron has you covered.

Below we share our experiences with “Beachwaver Pro Curling Iron”.

Shape

Its shape is something in between a wand and a spring iron. It looks like a straight barrel wand but has a very small clamp, so resembles a traditional spring iron as well. The results that it provides are wand-like, which are voluminous beach waves with an undone finish. You can control how undone you would prefer your style to be, by attaching the clamp at the tip of the strands or closer to the base. It provides casual-looking results rather than perfect-looking ringlets like with the spring irons. This is a very beginner-friendly tool, as one of your hands will be free to use. The rotation does take a bit of getting used to, but it’s pretty straightforward.

Size

It comes with two different barrel lengths which are both the most common and versatile sizes in the market.

The 1” one basically fits all hair lengths and can provide the widest range of hairstyles. It’s perfect for mid-back or shorter strands.

The 1.25” one is still very versatile but the locks that it creates are looser and larger. It appeals more to shoulder length and longer hair.

This tool stands out with its very long barrel of 6.5” It’s the rotating iron with the longest-sized barrel that we’ve come across in the market, and it appeals greatly for long strands. Combined with the 1.25” option, this tool is one of our favorite curling irons for long hair this year. It gives the bouncy and voluminous wavy effect that looks perfect on long hair.

Heat and Variable Settings

We think every curling iron should come with as many variable heat settings as possible. It makes a big difference, especially if you’re a beginner, to be able to adjust and choose the perfect temperature. Beachwaver comes with 8 settings to choose from, which is quite average, and enough to provide precision. Its maximum setting is the highest number in the market which is 450°F. This number can tame any kind of hair type, including the unruliest and thickest. When we look at its minimum temperature of 310°F, we’re not really impressed as it’s way too high for fine hair. We don’t recommend this tool if your strands are very fragile as it’s not safe from heat damage. But it’s gentle enough for strands with medium thickness.

Material and Performance

We have to say, this tool’s material is quite extraordinary. It’s not only ceramic but also infused with tourmaline and gold. This means that it holds the qualities of all these materials.

Ceramic makes this tool gentler than other materials. It heats up slowly and less than its titanium alternatives. This leaves much more room for mistakes and makes this tool beginner-friendly. Ceramic is the reason why we say that this tool is completely fine to use if you have strands with medium thickness, even though its minimum temperature is way too high.

Gold does a great job at even heat distribution. This quality also protects the strands from heat as it avoids the hot and cold pockets and offers a session with fewer passes.

Tourmaline is a semi-precious stone that emits negative ions naturally, which eliminates frizz from strands. This is a great quality if you have frizz issues, and even though this tool doesn’t have ionic technology, we still recommend it for frizzy hair.

Performance levels are seriously high with Beachwaver Pro1. Its high heat provides very fast and effective results. It also has very durable material and is surprisingly sturdy for a rotating curling iron. But since it costs $229, it’s definitely an investment. We only recommend it if you don’t mind spending this money and looking for the best quality tool.

Features

Like most luxury tools, Beachwaver Pro1 comes with the usual features that make this tool as ergonomic as possible. First of all, it has a digital display, as well as temperature control. These are quite rare features that not many brands provide, and very useful if you are a beginner in home styling.

It has a 30-minute auto shut-off. This is a great technology that makes the tool safe from fire. But Beachwaver seems to take it a bit too seriously by shutting the tool off after only 30 minutes. This can be annoying if it takes you longer to style your hair, as it will turn off by itself in the middle of your session.

One very important feature that eliminates frizz from strands is ionic technology and Beachwaver Pro 1 doesn’t provide it. But its tourmaline barrel provides the same service by naturally emitting negative ions.

Another outstanding feature is its non-slip barrel, which is very rare. It basically holds the strands in place in place longer and provides greater precision in your style. It’s good to be careful with it as the hair doesn’t naturally glide from the barrel and you need to unwrap it yourself.

It also comes with dual voltage and you can be sure to feel safe traveling with your tool, as it will fit anywhere in the world.

Ergonomics

This is a rotating curling iron and it’s a very bulky tool. It weighs 11.2oz, which is one of the heaviest curling irons on our list. While a tool this heavy would normally be hard to hold for longer periods, a rotating tool can get away with this weight. This is because you won’t need to maneuver your tool manually which saves a lot of energy and would probably keep you safe from arm fatigue. But it’s definitely not a compact tool and is not very travel-friendly, even with its dual voltage.

Its handle is 1.21” and is quite thick and it may be a bit uncomfortable to hold for very small hands. But otherwise, it’s very ergonomically designed and comfortable to hold. It has a very comfortable cool touch finger grip as well and this tool is very easy to handle.

It comes with an integrated counter rest which makes sure that your hot tool doesn’t touch the surface. This is a great attachment for fire safety.

It has a very long swivel cord of 9ft, one of the longest ones on our list, and is very comfortable.

Price & Warranty

This is not a budget-friendly product and it has a price of $229. You’re basically paying for luxury when you choose this curling iron and it does provide the qualities of a good luxury tool. It has great performance as well as the best quality material. We’re not really satisfied with its warranty though, which is only 1 year and most curling irons offer at least 2 years. As it’s one of the most expensive curling irons on our list, we can say that it’s slightly overpriced but the quality of its cheaper alternatives can’t seem to match with Beachwaver Pro1.

Competition

If Beachwaver’s price is way too much for your budget, there are more affordable alternatives to consider. Chi Spin and Curl is a perfect alternative for a rotating curling Iron. It also has high heat settings and comes with ceramic barrel. It can’t really compete with Beachwaver in terms of material quality and design, but it’s almost half-priced at $119 and still is a very efficient tool. Chi also is a great option for the ones who want a rotation curling iron but have fine or damaged strands. It has a minimum temperature of 180 °F and is low enough even for the most fragile strands. Beachwaver, on the other hand, is certainly not suitable for fine hair with a 310°F minimum temperature.

Beachwaver S1 Rotating Curling Iron is a cheaper alternative to the Pro version. The S1 also features a 0.75” size but has a 1″ shorter barrel compared to the Pro model.
