Curling irons have one and only purpose: to create beautiful curls. While it may sound easy,
and straightforward, there actually are many topics to consider before making the right
decision.
If what you want from your tool is material quality, beach waves, as well as a gentle session for your strands, T3 may be the perfect option for you. T3 has many different curlers and this is their first tapered wand-shaped tool.
It comes with a large range of variable heat settings (260°F, to 410°F,) that makes this tool suitable for both thick and fine hair. Its ceramic barrel also brings gentleness to your session. While ceramic is usually known for being slower than titanium, this tool proved us to be very fast as it has an internal
microchip that maintains heat to deliver one-pass results.
This wand just gives lots of body and movement with its conic shape, and the results are long-lasting. It’s a luxury tool, and there’s a price to pay to receive it’s benefits. This tool is not for you if you’re on a budget.
But it has one of the most beautiful and smooth-looking designs in the market and it just feels good in your hands.
Whether you’re seeking the best curling irons for beach waves or the best curling iron for long hair, rest assured, T3 Singlepass Wave has you covered.
Below, we share our experiences with “T3 Singlepass Wave”.
Shape
Shape of a curling iron is definitely something you need to consider as it probably is the
most important aspect.
T3 Singlepass wave comes as a tapered wand, which means, not only it doesn’t have a holding clamp that keeps your hair in place, it also has a conic shape instead of a simple cylinder. Curling wands are known for being able to create looser waves and an undone look, rather than very uniform curls. It really all comes down to what you want to achieve with your tool. A curling wand leaves out the clamp on purpose for a more natural finish. Clamp’s purpose is to hold the hair in place, attached to the tool. It’s important to note that this type of tool requires you to use your both hands and may be harder to get used to, but it’s not every difficult once you get it right.
The cone-shaped barrel has a wider base and narrower tip, which allows you to create larger waves by the roots for more volume, and as it comes to the tip of the hair the curls get tighter, creating more textured styles.
While this tool is perfect for you if you desire beach waves, it certainly is not the best if you
want your curls perfect and tight. You would be much better off with a spring curling iron
with a holding clamp. There are many great options in the market such as GHD Curve Classic
Curl Curling Iron, which has similar material quality and creates defined and bouncy curls.
Size
When it comes to size, there are two important numbers to consider; barrel’s width, as well
as its length.
Barrel’s width will determine the size of your curls so as we said before, it’s important to
know what kind of look you’re aiming for. While most curling irons have a cylinder shape,
some curling wands such as T3 Singlepass Wave are conic-shaped tools. This means that it’s
wider at the base and narrower at the tip.
The base measures 1.25” and the tip is as narrow as 0.75”, creating more defined curls at the tip of your strands. The tapered barrel allows you to create waves in medium to long hair while adding volume to short to medium hair. It is not the best way to add volume to flat roots with its wide base.
When it comes to the barrel’s diameter, the most common and versatile size is 1” which is the average of these numbers. So, this tool can be considered average-sized that fits most hair types and lengths. While this tool fits most, if your hair is very long (longer than mid-back) or short (neck length or shorter), you may need a larger or smaller curling iron. Babylisspro Nano Titanium Curling Wand has a 0.5” size option that works wonders with short strands such as pixie or bob cuts.
Barrel’s length is also important as different sizes appeals to different hair lengths, not only because of their length but also of their capacity to heat up. T3 Singlepass Wave has a 5.6” barrel which is above the average size of 5.4”. This means that it can cover more area at one pass and provide a faster session compared to its shorter-sized competitors. Longer barrels can also reach to higher temperatures with their larger surfaces which is great for longer and thicker strands.
Heat and Variable Settings
Heat can make your life much easier when it comes to using hot hair tools. Yet it also has
the capacity to ruin your session. The correct temperature will give you a fast and effective
session and protect you from damaging your strands. When we think of thick and unruly
hair, we think of high temperatures as high as 450°F, while fine strands can only handle
temperatures such as 300°F. Fortunately, T3 Singlepass Wave comes with variable heat
settings so that you can try and choose the perfect temperature for your strands. It has a
large range of heat setting starting from 210°F, and going as high as 410°F. This means this tool
is suitable for both fine and thick hair. It has 5 different settings and one will appeal to your
needs for sure. If you would like to have more than 5 settings on your curling Iron there are
many on our list as many as 50 variable settings such as Babylisspro Nano Titanium Spring
Curling Iron. This option would allow you to choose the perfect temperature for your needs
in no time.
Material and Performance
There are many different materials to choose from in the market and T3 Singlepass Wave
chooses ceramic. This option is mostly known for its gentleness. It spreads the heat much
slower than titanium which is its biggest alternative. This fact makes it much more beginner-friendly as it’s much easier to control and much less likely to burn the strands. Ceramic also
is a great heat conductor and heats evenly, creating healthier and shinier results. While
ceramics usually makes your hair shinier, after testing it, we have to say that it doesn’t have
the shiniest results compared to most other ceramic curling irons. Ceramic is also a cheaper
material than titanium in case you’re on a budget. If you have thick strands and would like a
tool that can most effectively tame them, titanium may be the better choice for you.
Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium Compact Curling Wand is a great alternative that is preferred by
professionals and can tame even the unruliest strands.
We have to say, ceramic tools usually aren’t the fastest, but T3 Singlepass Waver really
stands out when it comes to speed. We think it’s because of its internal microchip which
maintains even heat and delivers single-pass results.
This is a luxury tool and you feel the quality the first moment you take it out of its box. It’s
very sturdy to hold and the material is very durable. This tool is a great investment as it will
last you for many years if you use it well. It definitely is not the cheapest but, in our opinion, its performance is worth its price.
Features
The most outstanding feature that T3 Singlepass Waver has, is its internal smart microchip.
This little guy controls temperature fluctuations which as a result maintains a consistent
heat. Maintained heat means fast results that you can achieve as quick as in a single pass.
And it really works! This tool really makes a difference with its speed.
It has an ultra-smooth barrel which is supposed to help the hair slides through the tool very
easily but some users report that their hair sometimes gets caught to the barrel when it’s
close to the handle which is something to keep in mind.
It comes with heat-resistant gloves that can be really helpful as this is a wand-shaped tool,
meaning you need to use both of your hands to style your hair. It can burn your hands,
especially if you’re a beginner and these gloves makes this tool much safer.
It has a 60-minute auto shut-off feature. This technology shuts off the tool after 60 minutes
of use and makes sure that you don’t forget your hot tool on. It’s a great and in our opinion
necessary feature as these tools can easily be fire hazards.
It has an audible warning to let you know when it reaches the desired temperature as well
as light indicators, which makes things easy.
It has dual voltage. This means it works anywhere in the world. This feature can be precious
if you want to travel with your tool.
One very important feature is missing in this tool which is ionic technology. This technology
produces negative ions to make sure you have frizz-free results and in our opinion, it makes
a huge difference for frizzy hair. If you have a need to eliminate frizz in your session, we
recommend another tool such as Bioionic Goldpro Styling Wand, which has similar qualities
with T3 and does a great job with eliminating frizz.
Ergonomics
This is one of the most lightweight curling irons on our list with 8oz, much less than the
average which is around 8oz. This makes this tool travel-friendly, but more importantly, it
helps you hold your tool for much longer without arm fatigue. If you use these kinds of tools
to style your hair, you probably know that they can be very frustrating to hold for longer
periods of time. T3 Singlepass Wave comes very handy in this scenario.
The handle has a thickness of 1.11”. It’s above the average and it may not be the most
convenient to hold in case you have very small hands. It’s worth checking out Conair Double
Ceramic Curling Wand (18), which has a handle of 1” diameter.
Digital display is another important feature that makes things simpler for beginners.
Unfortunately, T3 Singlepass Wave doesn’t have it. It also doesn’t have buttons to control
the heat settings. It has a twist dial instead. If you are a beginner and think that you probably need this to make sure which temperature you’re on, another option such as Drybar The Wrap Party has both digital display and digital temperature control.
It comes with a cool touch finger grip to make sure you don’t burn your hands while styling
your strands. A cool tip is a very important feature that shouldn’t be overlooked, especially if
you’re buying a wand-shaped tool.
It has a built-in counter rest that keeps the tool above the counter, keeping it safe from
burning the surfaces.
It has a swivel cord that helps with maneuvering, and it’s 8 ft long. This is longer than the
average number of 7.6 ft and will most likely be long enough to fit your needs, even if your
mirror is far from your plug. It also comes with a Velcro tape that keeps the cord tidy while
not being used.
Price & Warranty
T3 products are usually considered luxury tools and T3 Singlepass Wave is no different. It
has a price tag of $170 and is certainly for the ones that have a budget to spend on their
curling iron. But when we think of its material quality, this tool is not overpriced and, in our
opinion, it deserves the money being spent. There are many other tapered wands in the
market which are much more affordable in case you don’t want to spend this much, such as
Infinitipro Rose Gold Titanium Curling Wand which is as cheap as $40. Obviously, you will
feel the difference in material quality and the results, but it still is a decent tool.
This tool comes with a 2-year warranty which is the average when it comes to hot hair tools.
Funnily enough, Infinitipro Rose Gold actually offers a heaping 5-year limited warranty and
takes things to next level, which is extraordinary with its very affordable price.
Competition
The T3 SinglePass Wave is a popular choice with its ultra-smooth barrel, providing super soft and natural-looking waves. It works best on medium hair textures, which can hold the curl better than fine hair. If you have fine hair, it’s better to opt for a textured, non-slip barrel curling wand to achieve longer-lasting curls.
Ghd Curve Creative Curl is another high-quality tool, that has a special textured barrel. This helps your waves stay defined and last longer compared to the T3. And if you’re watching your wallet, you might want to check out the Conair Double Ceramic or Remington Shine Therapy which also has a smooth barrel surface and can create those natural-looking waves.
